Training Programs for Job Seekers
The Career Center of Lowell offers customers a variety of resources and information on possible training opportunities, training vendors and funding sources in order to assist the customer in determining the "next best step" in their career planning.
The Career Center of Lowell highly recommends that customers who are collecting unemployment insurance(UI) and interested in training attend the Section 30 workshop. Program Offerings
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) (1998)
Possible paid training for adults and dislocated workers that meet eligibility criteria. Please see Career Center of Lowell Staff for further information.
Apprenticeship Training Program
Information about the Commonwealth of Massachusetts registered apprenticeship-training program can be found here.
National Emergency Grant (NEG)
May provide additional resources for workers impacted by major economic dislocations.
Veteran's Workforce Investment program (VWIP)
Provides financial assistance for training in order to develop and promote maximum employment opportunities for eligible veterans.
Workforce Training Fund (WTF)
Current or newly hired employees may be eligible for training by their employer. For more information, click here for revelant information in our employer section.
Trade Adjustment Assistance/Allowance (TAA)/(TRA)
If your job has been adversely affected by foreign competition, you may be eligible for benefits including:
- Financial Assistance for job training
- Extension of Unemployment Benefits
